In September, CW contributor and ABYC senior staff writer Ed Sherman will lead a course called Your Boat 101: Basic Electrical for Boat Owners.
Cruising World, along with American Boat & Yacht Council, will present a two-day class called Your Boat 101: Basic Electrical for Boat Owners. The three-part course takes place at the Mystic Seaport Museum, in Mystic, Connecticut, September 13 and 14. Electronics whiz Ed Sherman, a frequent CW contributor and senior staff writer for ABYC, will instruct participants on the specifics and fundamentals of how marine electrical systems work. He'll cover troubleshooting methods used by the pros, basic maintenance and repair techniques to keep your boat's system in top condition, and what's hot in the industry today. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions specific to their boat in this informal, hands-on setting.

There'll be a CW editor on site for casual conversation or to answer any questions about the magazine. There'll also be great giveaways and a speaker during lunch on Saturday.

The cost is $295.00 per person, but sign up by September 5 and bring along a crewmember for free. Two complimentary family passes to Mystic Seaport—good for the entire weekend—are included in the class fee. Class begins at 9 a.m. both days; Saturday wraps up at 4 p.m. and Sunday ends at noon, which leaves ample time to visit the nautical exhibits on display and in the water.

To register, call ABYC (410) 990-4460, or for more information on the class, go to the ABYC website (www.abycinc.org) and click on Calendar of Events.
