Dehler has acquired Etap Yachting, builder of the Etap 28s (above), a nominee in CW's 2008 Boat of the Year contest.
German-based Dehler has announced that it has purchased Belgian-based Etap Yachting for an undisclosed price. Etap Yachting's production facilities in Malle, Belgium, will continue to operate and expand. Equity investor Buchanan Capital Partners is financing the consolidation deal.

Founded in 1970 by Norbert Joris, all Etap models feature "double-hull" construction, which makes them virtually unsinkable. They have an international reputation for comfort and safety, and the Etap 28s was a Cruising World 2008 Boat of the Year nominee.

Brothers Heinz and Willy Dehler founded their boatyard in 1962, and it quickly became a well-known boatbuilding company. Wilan van den Berg bought Dehler in 2004, and, in 2006, the Dehler 44 won the European Yacht of the Year award.  The recently launched Dehler 34 was also nominated for the award.

Etap, long a favorite among cruisers, and Dehler, with its reputation for speed and quality, could please both cruisers looking for a bit more speed and racers in search oof a little extra comfort. For more information, visit the Dehler website (www.dehler.com).
